Asakusa is known as the site of the famed pleasure quarters of the old
Edo (Tokyo's former name). Asakusa prospered as the town grew around
the magnificent Sensoji, the oldest temple in Tokyo. It is one of the
few areas in Tokyo which retain some of the earthy charms of the old
Edo.
