NeTRA 2007 CFP, Submission deadline extended to April 15 2007

Dear Colleagues,

Please find attached the CFP for the First International Workshop on
Networking Technology for Robotics and Applications (NeTRA 2007) organized
in conjunction with the International Conference on Computer
Communications and Networks (ICCCN 2007) is approaching. The workshop will
be held in Turtle Bay Resort, Honolulu Hawaii USA, on August 16 2007. The
deadline for paper submission is now April 15, 2007. Submission
instructions are provided on the workshop web site
(http://www.me.uvic.ca/~danielac/NeTRA.html). The workshop proceedings
will be published by the IEEE Communications Society and the IEEE Digital
Library.

Kind regards,

Yan Bai and Daniela Constantinescu, NeTRA 2007 workshop co-chairs

Workshop date: August 16, 2007

What provisions are required at the control, sensing, planning and action
levels to ensure reliable task execution by robots connected via
unreliable networks? This is the key question explored in the First
International Workshop on Networking Technology for Robotics and
Applications (NeTRA 2007) organized in conjunction with ICCCN 2007
http://www.me.uvic.ca/~danielac/NeTRA.html
Networked robotics use wired and wireless network communication channels
such as the Internet and wireless LAN to enable humans to remotely control
robots and to support inter-robot interactions. They can provide
dexterity, power and intelligence far beyond the capabilities of a single
robot, but pose major scientific challenges related to communications,
control, distributed perception, information fusion, and cooperative
manipulation. These challenges take on additional complexity when
considered in conjunction with quality of service (QoS) support and
network security issues. Yet, as networked robots become more pervasive,
they increasingly use commercial wired and wireless networks and become
more likely targets of network security attacks, therefore requiring QoS
and security support for guaranteed performance.
NeTRA 2007 will provide a forum for researchers to present
state-of-the-art results in robotics and computer networks, and to
discover synergisms between the two areas that can contribute to the
successful deployment of interconnected robots. Of great interest are
advances in new networked robotics applications, including home
automation, security, exploration of harsh environments, medical
applications, and service robotics. We invite original contributions which
include, but are not limited to, the following topics of interest:

- Network technologies for service robotics
- Security provisions for internet robots
- Communication in multiple-user/multiple-robot systems
- Ad-hoc robot networks
- Network support for cooperative manipulation
- QoS in networked haptics and teleoperation
- Security and privacy in medical robot networks
- Cooperation among inhomogeneous robots
- Networked robotics applications

Submission Details:
All contributions should be submitted using EDAS (http://edas.info/). When
login EDAS, please click the “Submit Paper” tab, and then select “ICCCN
2007” and click the associated “Submit Paper” icon. In the tracks page,
please select “NeTRA 2007” to submit your paper.

Papers representing original research, not published or under review
elsewhere, are invited. Submitted papers should follow the standard IEEE
camera-ready format (double-column, 10-pt font), and should be limited to
6 pages including figures and references. Up to two extra pages are
allowed at an additional cost of US$150 per page.

All papers will be peer reviewed and the comments will be provided to the
authors. The workshop proceedings will be published by the IEEE
Communications Society and the IEEE Digital Library.
