Takayuki Itoh (伊藤貴之) (itot [at] is.ocha.ac.jp) Dept. of Information Sciences, Ochanomizu University http://itolab.is.ocha.ac.jp/~itot/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- * We apologize if you receive this CFP more than once. * Please circulate this CFP among your colleagues and students. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 30th ACM Symposium on Applied Computing Multimedia and Visualization (MMV) Track 13-17 April 2015, Salamanca, Spain (http://acmsac.icmc.usp.br/mmv15/) Important due dates (submission deadline is **strict**) September 12, 2014 Paper submission November 17, 2014 Author notification December 8, 2014 Camera-Ready Copy ------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Multimedia and Visualization (MMV) Call for Papers The themes Multimedia and Visualization are concerned with principles, tools and processes that improve our ability to understand, create, manage, visualize and maintain multimedia in general and interactive media in particular. The aim of this track is to bring together researchers from academia and industry who are actively engaged both in theoretical and practical aspects of these multidisciplinary themes, including those interested in discussing issues relative to Human-Computer Interaction and Human-Media Interaction. Authors are invited to submit papers which will be evaluated in terms of: originality, technical content, accuracy, significance of the work, appropriateness for the ACM SAC MMV track and presentation (organization, style and clarity). SAC has grown to be a large and very competitive conference. For instance, in the past 4 years the MMV track had an acceptance rate smaller than 30%, as the other tracks in the symposium. Authors should follow the ACM SIG format (Latex and MS Word templates available at: http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates). Submissions should not exceed six (6) double-column pages (with the option, at additional expense of USD 80 per page, to add two more pages). Accepted papers will be published in the ACM SAC proceedings and widely available through the ACM Digital Library. Submit your paper electronically in PDF. The submission system can be found at the SAC 2015 website: http://www.acm.org/conferences/sac/sac2015/ Authors are invited to check the papers presented at previous editions of the ACM SAC symposium at: http://portal.acm.org/event.cfm?id=RE133 Please, note that paper registration is required for allowing the inclusion of the paper/poster in the conference proceedings. An author or a proxy attending ACM SAC MUST present the paper. This is a requirement for all accepted papers and posters to be included in the ACM digital library. No-show of scheduled papers and posters will result in excluding them from the ACM digital library. *Multimedia and Visualization (MMV) Topics As in the previous editions of the MMV topics and technologies relevant to this track include (but are not limited to): - adaptive multimedia - automatically generated media and multimedia - computer supported collaborative work - interaction workflow and cooperation - interaction acessibility - interaction usability - interactive video - interactive multimedia - interacting with mobile devices - interacting with sensors and other devices - interaction and media-related markup languages - interactive TV - multimedia standards, models - multimedia supported collaborative work - multimodal interaction languages and APIs - multimedia authoring tools and systems - multimedia presentation - multimedia synchronization & temporal aspects - multimedia structure and content analysis - multimedia categorization, classification, mining - multimedia storage, indexing, and retrieval - multimedia high dimensional index structures - multimedia-related metadata and ontologies - performance of multimedia systems - structured interactive multimedia - video services - visualization via browsing, navigation, querying - visualization from modeling, analysis, mining and knowledge discovery - visualization with augmented and virtual reality - visualizing multi-dimensional data, textual data, multimedia data - visualization infrastructures, services and applications for specific domains *Student Research Competition (SRC) The Student Research Competition (SRC) program, sponsored by Microsoft Research, is a newly added program to the ACM SIGAPP Symposium on Applied Computing (SAC). Graduate students are invited to submit research abstracts (minimum of 2-page and maximum of 4-page) to the Student Research Competition (SRC), following the instructions published at SAC 2015 website. Authors of selected abstracts will have the opportunity to give poster presentations of their work and compete for three top-winning places. The winners will receive cash awards and SIGAPP recognition certificates during the conference banquet. Authors of selected abstracts are eligible to apply to the SIGAPP Student Travel Award program for support. Note: there are two different submission systems - one for regular tracks (including MMV) and other one for SRC.
